Godly Play

Children appreciate learning as they discover. This is a main tenet of our Church School at Holy Nativity. Godly-Play learning encompasses children from approximately four to eight years of age. Children remember lessons that enter their minds and hearts through sight, sound, touch, activities, and smell. So each Godly-Play lesson brings the children a box of “manipulatives.” These include nativity figures; sand and rocks; candles and bells.

Our Church School or Godly Play starts at 9:45 before our 10am service. At Godly Play youngsters gather together, hold a short worship and hear the story for that day. We focus and discuss the parts of the story the children liked best. ----Presently our church school is on summer break and will resume in September.

Listening to the childrens answers, we ask what part of the story they thought was most important, what part of the story was about them, and the parts that could be left out. Each answer of each child is affirmed. Then, after a short while they join their parents in the church service.
