Stewardship

“Each one should give as you have decided in your heart to give. You should not be sad when you give, and you should not give because you feel forced to give. God loves the person who gives happily.”  (2 Corinthians 9:7)

Stewardship is sometimes a misunderstood word especially when it comes to the annual pledge campaign. Stewardship here at the Church of the Holy Nativity is a joyful exchange of Time, Talent and Treasure (or the three T’s as we say). With the understanding that what we have is God’s, stewardship is a way to give back in what ever way we are able.

Stewardship here at Church of the Holy Nativity takes many forms and can even be fun! While stewardship does have its roots in giving, we are all stewards of the environment and of our own talents as well as time we spend doing what we need to do, want to do and in some cases what we should be doing. The great thing about stewardship is that everyone can be a steward, no matter what your age or position in life, God accepts all gifts as you have accepted his. Stewardship is all year round and is at the base of all that we do.

Along with our annual stewardship pledge program entitled “New Beginnings - Continued”, we have also seen a Talent Auction, Planned Giving Seminar, Talent Job Fair, dinners and community outreach programs to name a few. One of the biggest examples of stewardship here is our annual Holly Fair when the entire parish joins to share Time, Talent and Treasure to ensure this annually very successful event. Stewardship is part of the fabric that is woven into this wonderful parish family and is part of our daily lives.

1 Chronicles 29:14,16 “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand, O Lord our God…all of it belongs to you.”
